It's Christmas Eve, and quiet over here! Although I'm not a Christian, I have to admit that I love this season. The parties, the food, the atmosphere, even the Christmas songs! All these give me an elated feeling and a cheerful spirit.
I remember when we were kids, we sometimes would go to Singapore to look at the brilliant night lights at Christmas along Orchard Road. One particular Christmas though, I think I was 12, mum and dad had just got back from a holiday in Perth, Australia; they took home some exotic gifts like a kangaroo stuffed toy, a koala hand-puppet and a furry handbag. They also bought some strawberries, which were the sweetest I'd ever tasted and we ate them with ice-cream with our fake Christmas tree lighted up in the corner of the living room. That was probably the most memorable Christmas for me.
This year though, like the last Christmas, and a few before that, I am celebrating with Stephen. He cooks such awesome Christmas dinners, I could only regret we were not sharing with his family! This year we will be making roast ham with Madeira sauce and roast beef with mustard sauce. On the sides, we will be having new potatoes with mayonnaise, fried potatoes as Bratkartoffeln and savoy cabbage with bacon. To round it up, there will be lots of wine, port, cheeses and chocolates. All for just the two of us! Then it will be time for presents in the morning…
Hope your Christmas would be warm and cheerful and full of love!
